Steelers safety's brother gets five years for attending Super Bowl (AP)

Now Tank Carter has even more time to think about how much he enjoyed that Super Bowl party. A judge increased jail time from six months to five years for the brother of Pittsburgh Steelers safety Tyrone Carter because he failed to report to prison on time for driving with a revoked license. Tank Carter went to the Super Bowl instead and said he had no regrets.

Reaction to Paul Tagliabue's retirement announcement (AP)

"The league will miss him, but I believe this is the right time. It is time for him to enjoy his family and pursue other interests. He is very intelligent and probably will not sit around and do nothing. I feel honored to be the last NFL owner that Paul Tagliabue handed the Lombardi Trophy." -- Dan Rooney, Pittsburgh Steelers owner.

Wide receiver Quincy Morgan re-signed with the Steelers on Monday. Morgan, who broke his leg in Pittsburgh's wild-card playoff victory, signed with the Steelers before the 2005 opener. The five-year NFL veteran had nine catches for 150 yards and two touchdowns last season, and ranked fifth in the AFC with 23 kick returns for 583 yards.

Pittsburgh Steelers Inside Slant

Neither the Super Bowl nor the large increase in salary-cap room has altered Pittsburgh's approach this off-season, which looks a lot like last off-season. They allowed a handful of starters to leave without making serious counter-proposals for them (receiver Antwaan Randle El, safety Chris Hope and defensive end Kimo von Oelhoffen). They signed one modest free agent to fill a hole (safety Ryan Clark).

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are a professional American football team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They currently belong to the Northern Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the National Football League (NFL). The team has appeared in six Super Bowls and is, with the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys, one of three teams to have won five of them, and has appeared in thirteen Conference Championship Games, winning six. They are the only team in NFL playoff history to win a Super Bowl after being seeded sixth in the playoffs, winning three consecutive games on the road followed by a Super Bowl victory in Detroit on February 5, 2006.

Originally named the Pittsburgh Pirates the team, along with the Philadelphia Eagles and the now-defunct Cincinnati Reds football team, joined the NFL as 1933 expansion teams, after Art Rooney, Sr. paid a $2,500 fee. The team was renamed the Steelers in 1941 after the city's prominent steel industry to reflect the "blue-collar worker" ethic of the many Pittsburgh fans.
